A Designer's Journal from Rosebullet the Label
When people ask me where inspiration comes from, they often expect a glamorous answer a runway show in Paris, a vintage archive, or a trend report.
Some of the best designs don't begin with a trend forecast they begin with listening.
At Rosebullet the Label, we speak with boutique owners every single week. We hear what sells, what gets reordered, and more importantly, what women keep reaching for in their wardrobes.
That's exactly how the story of our T3333 Mina High Waist Denim Sailor Shorts and T3718 Elana Denim Mini Skirt began.
It Started with the T3333 Mina Sailor Denim Shorts
When we first designed the T3333 Mina High Waist Denim Sailor Shorts, our vision was to create a pair of denim shorts that felt more elevated than traditional denim.
Rather than using a classic five-pocket design, we wanted something with a tailored appearance while maintaining the comfort and versatility women look for in an everyday wardrobe.
I remember our design board was filled with vintage European sailor uniforms, tailored military jackets and classic denim from the late 70s and 90s.
What stood out wasn't the nostalgia. It was the clean tailoring. That became our starting point.
Why We Chose the Sailor Waist?
One of the very first details we designed was the double-column sailor buttons. Traditionally, sailor trousers were designed to create a longer, cleaner waistline. We loved how that translated into modern womenswear.
Rather than using a traditional zip fly with front pockets, we created a cleaner front panel with our signature sailor button placement. It immediately gave the shorts a more premium, tailored look while remaining incredibly easy to wear.
To this day, it's still one of my favourite details. The shorts were available in both Light Blue and Dark Blue, offering boutiques a versatile denim staple that could be worn across multiple seasons.
Then Something Unexpected Happened...
Once the Mina Shorts launched, we began receiving the same message from our boutique partners.
Customers loved:

- The unique sailor button detailing
- The structured yet comfortable fit
- The practical cargo pockets
- The premium vintage denim wash
Many of our stockists came back asking for more styles using the same design language. Instead of simply producing another colour, our design team decided to build on the success of the original.
Introducing the T3718 Elana Denim Mini Skirt
The challenge was simple.
How could we keep everything customers loved about the Mina Shorts while creating an entirely new silhouette?
The answer became the T3718 Elana Denim Mini Skirt.
Rather than redesigning from scratch, we carefully carried across the signature elements that made the T3333 so successful:
- Double-column sailor buttons
- High-waisted silhouette
- Utility cargo pockets
- Structured panel seams
- Premium vintage denim wash
The result is a mini skirt that feels familiar, yet completely fresh.
The Details That Make the Difference
Although the silhouette changes between the shorts and skirt, both styles share the same premium construction.

However, the T3718 Elana Denim Skirt just come on Acid Blue. It has been carefully developed to achieve a timeless vintage appearance that pairs effortlessly with seasonal collections.
Why It's a Hot Repeat
Not every style earns a second life.
The T3333 became one of our Hot Repeat denim styles because boutiques consistently reordered it after experiencing strong sell-through.
Customers loved its versatility, unique detailing and flattering fit. Instead of following fast-changing trends, both the T3333 Mina Shorts and T3718 Elana Mini Skirt focus on timeless design that customers continue reaching for season after season.
Today, these two styles form a complementary denim story giving boutiques the option to offer customers the same signature sailor aesthetic in two wearable silhouettes.
